ACP Sign Boards in India — Materials, Costs and What to Ask Before You Order

ACP — aluminium composite panel — is the backbone of commercial signage in India. Walk down any business district in Hyderabad, Vizag or Jaipur and most of the sign boards you see are ACP. There is a reason for that. It is durable, weather-resistant, takes graphics well, and holds its shape without warping.

ACP panels are two thin aluminium sheets bonded to a polyethylene core. The result is a rigid, lightweight panel that can be cut to any shape, painted, printed on, or used as a base for lettering. Available in plain, metallic, brushed, wood-grain and mirror finishes. PVDF-coated ACP has a 10-year colour warranty and is what most serious exterior applications need.

Thickness matters and it is one of the first things to get right. Three-millimetre ACP works for internal signage and smaller display boards. External sign boards of medium size — shopfront name boards, directory panels — should use four millimetre. For large fascia boards, sky signs and anything in a high-wind or coastal location like Vizag, six-millimetre ACP or a structural aluminium frame with ACP cladding is the correct specification.

On cost — basic ACP sign boards without lettering or lighting run from ₹200 to ₹500 per square foot depending on the panel grade. Add vinyl lettering and graphics and add another ₹100 to ₹300 per square foot. Full LED-illuminated ACP lightboxes are significantly higher and need to be quoted per project because box depth, lighting specification and electrical work all vary.

What most people do not ask but should — how is the board being fixed to the wall? A heavy ACP sign fixed with inadequate wall anchors is a safety and liability issue. CMYK Graphics specifies and installs appropriate fixings for each sign type and wall surface. All large external signs get a load calculation to ensure proper anchoring.

We also handle ACP cladding for full building facades and large-scale retail fit-outs — not just individual sign boards. If you have a project that involves cladding a shopfront or branding an entire building exterior, that is within our scope.
